Don’t Become a Statistic-Stay in School

We are into the second semester of the 2015 school year and graduation will be here before you know it. Have you considered thinking about your future? What do you plan to become when you’re older, or what life goals have you set for yourself? Whether you’re a senior graduating this year, a junior with a bad case of senoritis or even a freshman, the decisions you make during your years of high school will forever follow you. Even though we may not think about our future because we are in school worrying about other teenage problems, the future is something that is very important. School can be a stressful time but it is something we have to do in order to become successful. You can become whatever you wish as long as you set your mind to it and try your best. Google statistics says that one-third of students will not graduate from high school and the student drop out rates have shot up in the last serveral years, leaving students without high school diplomas and unable to find a job or succed in life.

Nowata junior Simon Bratt says he has recently been thinking about his future and he wants to get a degree in something that involves math because he has always liked it and hes not that bad at it. So he has thought about electical enginer or an accountant. He plans on doing his best in high school and then going to college afterwards. Simon thinks students should take high school and their future seriously because their parents won’t be there forever to support them. “I hear a lot of students say they are moving out when they are 18, which is crazy because they need to realize they need to work hard now so you don’t have to work as hard when you do decide to move out. You could have money saved and if you did well enough in school you could get offered a school scholarship.” In 10 years, Simon wishes to see himself with a good job, married, and have a social life of some kind which will probably not be in Nowata.

If there is any advice you can have as a young adult that is to consider your future, do well in school and do everything you can to succed in life.
