Interact and Rotary Club of Nowata

Rotary Club
District Governor, Larry Long and District Governor Elect, Don Den Daas show Rotary International Director, Karen Wentz and husband, Ron an amazing sculpture that represents the Rotary Club during Wentz’s recent visit to District 6110.

In the Interact Club, students mostly help around the community. If the city is having a clean up day, the club will send four or five students to help.

One year around project they do is recycling. They collect paper from classrooms and cans and donate to the Hayes House. The residents shred the paper and all the money from the recycling goes to the Hayes House. “It’s almost like a job for them,” states Mrs. Hewitt, sponsor of the Interact Club. She went on to say, “It gives them all a sense of responsibility.”

The Rotary Club is also a sponsor of the Interact Club in Nowata. The Interact Club is like a small branch of the whole Rotary Club. The Rotary Club originates in Tulsa but has smaller branches in surrounding areas including Bartlesville, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Claremore, Owasso, Sapulpa, and Vinita. The Rotary Club is all about helping out in community work. It is Tulsa’s largest community service club. The Rotary Club has founded many organizations in Tulsa including a boys home, a children’s medical center, Tulsa’s airway, and the Medical Supply Network.

The Interact and Rotary Club aare both very important organizations in the community. If you are interested in the Interact Club, talk to Mrs. Hewitt.
