Monday night, January 25, the Nowata Middle School’s sixth, seventh and eighth grade basketball teams played against the Oklahoma Union Cougars. The boys’ sixth grade played a very close game and took home a win with a score of 34-33. Sixth graders said the game was very intense and they were excited through the whole game and it was funny to watch their coach get so excited. The sixth grade girls also had a very close game and won, but with a lower score of 16-14. The girls say their game was also very intense.
The seventh grade boys won an excellent, but very close game with a score of 33-29. The boys had the Cougars tied at 29-29 and thought they would go into overtime. The boys said the Cougars scored a 3 point shot and was fouled and missed one free throw but made the last one. The boys also said their coach was very excited throughout the entire game and knew they would do very well.
The eighth grade boys pulled through with a very close, but winning score of 26-25. The boys said the game against the Cougars was definitely a rivalry game. Throughout the first, second and third quarters, the boys said it was tied up almost the whole game and were down by one point and eighth grader, Dillon Barnes made the winning layup.
