Nowata Invitational Tournament

After getting fouled, #5, Emily Belden steps up to the free throw line to take her shots.

The Nowata Invitational Tournament started on Monday, December 7 and ended on Saturday, December 12. The Lady Ironmen played the Oklahoma Union Cougars on Tuesday night. Just a few minutes into the game senior, Halley Hewitt sunk a three, putting the Lady Ironmen ahead. During the second quarter, the Cougars began to catch up and continued to score on the Ironmen, leading them to a win.

“I thought we had it in the bag during the first quarter, but Oklahoma Union caught up real quick. We still played hard and it was a good game,” says Hewitt.

The boys played the Chelsea Dragons on Tuesday night. Senior, Tanner May was fouled multiple times, taking him to the free throw line six different times. May also sunk three, three point shots in this game.

As Saturday approached, the Lady Ironmen went up against Sperry. Ending the game over twenty points ahead of the Pirates, the girls took 10th place in the tournament.

That evening the Ironmen played Lincoln Christian. This was a quick and easy game for the boys, with very few fouls and shots that couldn’t keep from sinking in the net. The game ended with a final score of 53-47. The boys ended the tournament receiving a 3rd place trophy.
