Christmas is a time for helping others in need. One program that needs your help is the Angel Tree Program.
The Angel Tree Program helps parents that can’t afford to buy their child gifts that they want or need and provides those presents for their children. The program will send the gifts to the families in time for Christmas. Not only does the program provide for children in need but for elderly seniors that would have a gloomy Christmas.
Fortunately, the local businesses Arvest Bank and Orscheln both in Nowata that have angel trees. Yet unfortunately, Arvest Bank no longer has any more angels, but luckily Orscheln has 25 angels left for you to help make their Christmas merry.
The child and senior (angels) that are in need of your help will be put on an ornaments that contains the child’s first name and the things they enjoy or like doing. Shirt, jean, coat, and shoe sizes will be listed on the ornaments as well as the kind of clothing they enjoy wearing. The kind of books and toys they describe or would like to have will also be listed on their ornaments.
Community Action asks that you deliver your presents before the deadline of Monday, December 16th. The Community Action building is located at 317 E. Delaware, Nowata. If you have questions about Orscheln’s Angel Tree their phone number is (918) 273-9980.
Not only are you making a child happy, but the joy of giving will warm your heart, just as it did Mary McCoy.“It’s just time to give back,” said Mrs. McCoy. “We’re a very blessed family.”
